The latest news:
Many of softwares will create their shortcuts on your desktop when they are installed. If you have installed a lot of softwares on your computer your desktop will be covered with many shortcuts and you can't even see your beautiful wall paper. Move the software shortcuts to the Windows Quick Launch Bar is a good idea. The Quick Launch bar makes it easy to access frequently used programs and you don't need to leave all the shortcuts on your desktop.
If your Quick Launch bar is not displayed, right-click an empty area on the taskbar and check the Toolbars>Quick Launch item from the popup menu.
In this tutorial I will show you how to automatically move shortcuts from your desktop to the Quick Launch with RoboBasket. If you don't have RoboBasket installed yet you can download it from here.

Open RoboBasket Settings Window and create a new rule in the rules pane as the figure shows.
There is a trick in this step. Quick Launch Bar is a two-faced entity. On the one hand it is a toolbar on your desktop where you place the most used shortcuts. On the other hand it is a folder on your disk that contains shortcuts. Usually the full path to Quick Launch looks very similar to:
C:\Documents and Settings\ <UserName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
And the "Application Data" folder is a hidden folder so when we select the folder for the "Move to" action we can't see it in the folder explorer window. To select the folder we have to show the "Application Data" folder first.

Open the C:\Documents and Settings\ <UserName> in windows explorer and open the "Tools>Folder Options..." window from the menu. Select the "Show hidden files and folder" item in the "View" tab. Then the "Application Data" folder is visible now. Select the folder C:\Documents and Settings\ <UserName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch for the "Move to" action.

In the "Folders" pane add a folder and select the Desktop. Make sure to apply the "Shortcuts to Quick Launch" rule. Now RoboBasket will automatically move shortcuts from your desktop to Quick Launch.
