Simple GTD(Getting Things Done) For Bloggers

If you are a blogger you will encounter ideas from time to time, but you have work on your hand and can't start to write immediately. So take a note of the idea then review your idea list some time is an effective way. This action management method is called Getting Things Done(GTD).

The typical GTD system is very complicate and I find it's hard to implement all the rules and principles of it. So I create a simple system with RoboBasket to help me to collect my ideas and track my working progress. In this tutorial I will show you how to create this system. If you don't have RoboBasket installed yet you can download it from here.

Step 1:The basic concept.

In this system we use the plain text file as the track item. The file name indicates the status of the file and the topic of the article. The file's content is the article's content. When we have an idea of article we create a plain text file on the desktop and name it with the topic text and make sure to start the name with "idea". Then RoboBasket will automatically move the file to the "blog" folder. When we start to write an article in the "blog" folder, the files size is greater then 1 bytes. RoboBasket automatically moves the file to the "working" folder. When we finish the article we rename the file and put the word "finished" at the start of the name. RoboBasket will take the file and move it to the "Published" folder.

Step 2: Create rules

Step 3: Create folders settings
