The latest news:
Most of us have a lot of digital photos on our hard disk. Unfortunately most of the digital cameras name their files with meaningless file name like "IMG_2089302390". It's hard to read and remember when we take these pictures. But most of the digital cameras can write photo's date into the file's EXIF info section, so we can use the EXIF information to rename the photos with photo date.
In this tutorial I will show you how to batch rename photos with its EXIF photo date information, you will find it very easy and quick. I will also show you how to create a folder and let RoboBasket automatically organize your pictures. If you don't have RoboBasket installed yet you can download it from here.

Open RoboBasket Settings Window and create a new rule in the rules pane as the figure shows.
Select the rename action. Delete the "name" and insert the "photo.date" into the rename pattern input box.
Click on the system tray menu and check the Show Basket Window item.
Drag and drop the photos onto the basket window and now you rename all the photos with their EXIF date.
Now let's make RoboBasket automatically run this task.

In the "Folders" pane add a folder and select your pictures folder. Make sure to apply the "Rename Pictures" rule. Now you just need to put your digital photos into the folder and RoboBasket will automatically rename them.
Maybe you think sorting all the pictures into some folders named with date is a good idea. RoboBasket can also do this for you.

Add a "Move to" action next to the "Rename". Select your picture folder and click the "Adv." button to show the advanced options. Check the "sort into subfolder" option and insert the "photo.date" into the input box.

Now you have a well organized pictures folder. And you don't need to spend any time to organize your pictures any more.
